x-end of daylight-x

Sat Aug 8, 2009, 1:12 AM
  • Listening to: End Of Daylight - ZUN
  • Watching: dead leaves falling
  • Eating: simple onigiri
  • Drinking: water
A person with long purple hair tied up in a high ponytail stood in the middle of a clearing. Closer inspection - as in one that reached as deep as going under the red and white swordsman outfit that concealed the body along with tightly tied bandages - would reveal that it was a female, though the sharp facial features of a young descendant of an old samurai clan could make her pass easily for a pretty boy. If she didn't bandage herself that is.

The forest was dark here even during day, but it didn't stop the rain from leaking through the thick layers of leaves above her head, nor did it do much to lessen the impacts of the violent downpour.

But she didn't really mind it. She rather enjoyed rain, as well as wind. They were soothing, as violent as they may seem. Or maybe it was just that she was so used to them, living ever since her childhood in the greatest depths of the Forest of Magic. Descendant of an old, cursed samurai clan. She was not even given a last name, she only knew it has been erased from records - according to what her father told him before he died - and even from family scrolls. The image of burned out holes in them was vivid in her mind, reminding her of the past, of the entire bloodline.. and of her own failure.

Hakurei.

How long has it been since then? Four years? Five? Did she even care? She failed and that was all that mattered. The shrine maiden was younger than her but the orbs gave her power that made up for lacks of experience and training. The defeat taught her a lesson she was not going to forget anytime soon.

But it did not mean she gave up on her purpouse - on acquiring the power of orbs. She did not flee from the battle - she retreated after loss. Surely, every other samurai would frown upon it as an act going against honour - but what honour did a person without a name have? She had nothing left to taint.

After retreating from the battle with Reimu, she returned to her harsh trainings. She was always fast, she developed techniques of her own. Her disadvantage was at being human and lack of special powers or items that would grant her such.

But she was stubborn and she was focused. She let out a deep breath, gathering her concentration, alert, feeling every muscle in her body relax in anticipation for movement she would force them to execute. Nothing would throw her off-balance. Nothing. She was perfectly calm-

A bird chirped.

"SHUT UP!"

....she had still much to learn.

hmm...

I may have a use for you...
:iconx-meira-x:
[She stirs and turns around, sword raised and ready to strike or parry if there was a need. Her eyes narrow at the girl in front of her, and a quiet growl escapes her lips.]
What are you doing here, Hakurei descendant? Came to laugh at the one you defeated years back? Though I doubt you'd even remember me, high and mighty as you are...
[She speaks with anger and hatred clear in both voice and eyes, hands tightening around the katana's hilt.]
:icongap-youkai-meimu:
*hmhmhmhm*

I'm afraid your mistaken. While I may look like the shrine maiden, I assure you I am not. Nor am I descended from her line.

[Meimu grins]

You hate the one named Reimu, correct?
:iconx-meira-x:
[The blade is lowered, though barely a few millimeters, and the look Meira's giving her turns from purely hateful into something more wary. Was it some trick? How was it possible for two completely unrelated people to look identical like that? Only thing really different was the eyes colour - everything else, the hair, the posture, the skin, was the way Meira remembered from her first - and last - encounter of Reimu...]

Even if I do, what is it to you?
:icongap-youkai-meimu:
The fact that I also have reasons to deal with the shrine maiden.
